Project description
The Ministry of Energy of Kenyan Government required creating a small hydropower, fully discretionary power generation plant to provide energy in periods of peak demand, using an existing water source with minimal impact on the local environment.
The initial work considered feasibility level design for each of the replanting and new station options. It was followed by the later appointment to prepare an addendum report to examine the scheme options of installed capacity, number of generating units and operating regimes.
The High Falls hydro generating station is located on the Mara River in southern Kenya. The project was also designed to bring economic and educational benefits to the community. Ecotech has completed feasibility design and preliminary hydraulic design of what will be one of the key projects in northern Kenya. Ecotech provides a full range of services to power generation customers, including program management, feasibility studies, detailed engineering design and consultancy.
We provide comprehensive consultancy services to project developers, contractors, asset owners and lenders over the entire power generation project life cycle. Ecotech assist clients to identify and assess potential sites in the project development stage, conducting environmental impact assessment, managing consultation processes and permit applications and securing grid connections.
Ecotech has exceptional experience in managing project development and implementation in a proactive manner to prevent delays, simultaneously implementing highly effective project risk mitigation strategies. We also provide engineering and technical support with regard to existing assets, and technical advisory and lender’s engineering roles for power projects and asset sales.
